October 16, 2014 – November is Parent Engagement Month in Georgia and, this year, the Georgia Department of Education is kicking things off with its I CAN Play a Role Campaign, an engaging way for parents and stakeholders to come together around the common purpose of improving student achievement. A campaign kickoff will be held Oct. 20 at the State Capitol, and officials from around the state – including First Lady Sandra Deal and State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge – will speak.

Through the I CAN Play a Role Campaign, parents are asked to renew their commitment to work together and improving learning opportunities for their students, at school and at home. Parents can choose from 15 different I CAN Play a Role pledge cards, which provide them with concrete ways to get involved in their child’s education. The state goal is to reach 50,000 parent pledge cards to impact family engagement and student achievement in Georgia.
