|Description of Duties:||
Under limited supervision, manages the English Language Arts (ELA) program which includes the supervision of ELA staff. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning for and implementing the K-12 Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS); performing duties and responsibilities in accordance with state law, State Board Rules, Georgia’s Race to the Top Scope of Work for ELA Common Core GPS, and the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) vision, mission, and goals; aligning curriculum initiatives from different divisions and programs; developing and fostering effective relationships with local school systems, Regional Educational Service Agencies (RESA), ELA Advisory Council members, and other education entities to encourage collaboration and effective communication of program goals; working with staff and the ELA Advisory Committee to plan, schedule, and organize ELA professional learning activities, which includes the CCGPS for teachers, school and district administrators, and staff from RESAs; developing and refining ELA resources, including electronic and web-based resources; developing and scheduling web-based and face-to-face professional learning activities; developing, interpreting, and communicating program plans, guidelines for implementation, and benchmarks for success; evaluating and monitoring the effectiveness of all formats for professional learning; planning and providing technical assistance and services to schools and school systems; providing support for professional education staff activities; managing and aligning assigned budgets/funds from multiple sources to ensure maximum fiscal accountability and to avoid duplication of service; and managing contracts for support services related to the planning, development, and implementation of the CCGPS and other ELA initiatives.
Master’s degree in education, educational administration, or a related field and three (3) years of experience with K-12 ELA Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) at the school, district, or state level. This experience must include managing online web-based resources and professional learning delivery models. Must have strong knowledge of ELA Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) and the K-12 Common Core GPS for ELA. Must hold Georgia Professional Standards Commission educator certification. Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Experience developing and providing professional learning both in electronic and face-to-face formats
• Experience in managing educational budgets
• Experience managing and accessing online resources
• Experience managing educational contracts and grants
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent presentation skills
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
Pay grade 19 – Annual salary range $52,172.55(minimum) to $91,137.94 (maximum) paid through State funds. Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience, salary history, and available funding.
