Data-Driven Decision Making Process Guide

The purpose of the Data-driven Decision Making Companion Guide is to assist local educational agencies (LEAs) understand the school improvement planning process as the driver for continuous improvement. A critical component of the school improvement planning process is writing a school improvement plan (SIP) that is data-driven. A thoughtful and well-written SIP communicates specific, intentional actions to reach a desired outcome. Data-driven decision making refers to a school's ongoing process of collecting and analyzing multiple sources of formative and summative data to guide decisions toward improvement of the educational process. DDDM involves making decisions that are supported by data rather than making decisions that are intuitive or based on observation alone.


Remote Learning Handbook

The Remote Learning Handbook provides a template for district and school leadership teams to address the infrastructure for remote teaching and learning. The template is based on COVID-19 restart guidance and resources from the Georgia Department of Education.

FY21 School Improvement Funding Guidelines

​The Title I Section 1003(a) school improvement grants provide financial resources to local educational agencies (LEAs) on behalf of Title I schools identified as Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) or Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) as defined by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). School improvement funding supports the identified needs outlined in the school’s improvement plan. SDE staff will collaborate with schools and districts to complete a justification of expenses form for the allocation of 1003(a) school improvement funds. This document will specify how the funds beginning July 1, 2020 through September 30, 2021 align to the school improvement plan and include strong, moderate, or promising evidence-based interventions that will impact student achievement.​

School Leadership Team Review Process Guide​

The School Leadership Team Review Process Guide provides a school with detailed information on how to establish a strong leadership team to fully implement the Effective Leadership System and supporting structures within Georgia’s Systems of Continuous Improvement (GSCI).  The school will be able to evaluate the cur​rent practices of their leadership team by completing a self-assessment using the High Impact Practices Implementation Rubric.  Following the self-assessment, the leadership team will discuss the progression needed to move the team to exemplary status and identify targeted actions for improvement.  The Leadership Team Review Process Guide provides resources and exemplars to assist schools in improving leadership team evidenced-based practices to support the continuous improvement cycle.​​

​The High School Graduation Plan Support Guide provides a framework to review and support processes and practices for high school graduation plans. GaDOE will support high schools in increasing high school graduation rates by ensuring:
​- all high schools have a written graduation support plan in place​
- graduation support plans are implemented with fidelity
- graduation rate percentages are tracked at defined intervals
- effective and consistent monitoring processes are in place
- graduation support plans are revised annually based on current data​
